Modular Effects Unit Patch
One of my first projects in my exploration with digital audio. It is simply a multi-effect unit rack where the user can drop an audio file of their choice and modulate overlayed effects through the use of LFOs.
Effects included in this rack are a tremolo effect, Reel to Reel Tape simulator, comb filtering, and frequency modulated delay.
The tremolo effect is designed using a ring modulation topology. The square wave function caused a clicking sound so I had implemented a low pass filter on the LFO to soften this artifact.
The Reel to Reel Tape simulator is essentially vibrato except that it's parameters are set to replicate an old worn out tape. Inspired by the pitch bend function on Ableton's sampler instrument. The comb filtering effect utilizes a feed forward delay topology with a very low delay frequency.
There was a very odd clipping effect on the lower frequencies, so in order to negate that I had the effect only operate on frequencies past 130Hz. This effect was inspired by Traktor's Flange effect. Finally the frequency modulated delay utilizes a sinewave to modulate the delay time of the delay effect. This was inspired by the Boss DD-7's analog modulation effect.
