Dub Siren User Interface
Over the summer after taking the CS190 course I decided to use what I have learned to develop a Dub Siren. The Dub Siren first made it's appearance around the 1960s and is a ubiquitous device heard across many dancehall and reggae records. The hardware consists of a relatively simple oscillator where the user presses a button and the device emits a sine wave that can be modulated to create a siren-type sound.Â
In this patch a digital variation of the Dub Siren is presented with a simple carrier frequency that is modulated by an LFO. The frequency ranges of each tone generator is made to fit with the analog Dub Siren sound. The user can change the wave shape of both the carrier frequency and the LFO to fit the sound they need. All they would have to do is press "T" and a sound is generated. In many Dub Sirens I've heard I have noticed some reverberation, which is why I had included a delay effect as well to this patch.
